But even after all that, I never imagined what would happen a few weeks later, on February 7. That was the day Mitch McConnell tried to silence me – and silence Coretta Scott King – on the floor of the US Senate.

Donald Trump may call us names. Mitch McConnell might tell us to sit down and shut up. But we will never give up. We are an army – an army filled with optimism and hope and fierce determination. And up against our army, they don’t stand a chance.
