The COVID-19 crisis has revealed just how broken our food system has become. Meatpacking plants across the country are hotspots for COVID-19 outbreaks. Tens of thousands of workers have gotten sick — and over 100 workers have died. The crisis is making it easier for Big Ag to get even bigger and gobble up small family farms.
A small number of massive factory farm corporations control the US market, creating a fragile food chain, harmful environmental practices, and economic ruin for too many family farms. This highly concentrated food system is dangerous for workers and consumers — especially during the coronavirus crisis. We need to end the vice grip that Big Ag has over our farm economy and rethink how our food industry operates to create a sustainable system that’s humane, safe, and resilient.
We must fix our broken farm and food system — to protect workers, animals, and family farms, and ensure a resilient food chain before the next crisis hits.

What do I say?
Hi, Representative [YOUR REP.’S NAME].
My name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m your constituent. I’m calling today to ask you to support the Farm System Reform Act, introduced by Representative Ro Khanna.
The coronavirus crisis has shown how unsafe and inhumane consolidated factory farming is — for workers and for animals. We must protect factory workers, family farmers, and consumers by building a new, sustainable, and resilient food system.
I urge you to support and vote for the Farm System Reform Act to help level the playing field and reform our broken farm and food system.
Thanks for your time.
