Warren Celebrates Juneteenth, Will Attend Festival In Boston Tomorrow
Somerville, MA – Consumer advocate and U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren will celebrate Juneteenth tomorrow by attending a festival in Boston marking the holiday. Juneteenth celebrates the day in 1865 when the last slaves were freed after the Civil War.
"When we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on our nation’s history and the progress we have made in advancing freedom and equality," said Warren. "Yet it is also a time for us to acknowledge the work that still must be done to ensure every American’s civil rights are protected and each person in this country is treated with dignity and respect."
Juneteenth is celebrated across the country to commemorate freedom and the ongoing struggle for civil rights and equality.
