Somerville, MA – Jonathan Mitchell, the Mayor of New Bedford, endorsed Elizabeth Warren at her Get Out the Vote Rally in New Bedford today. Elizabeth was also joined by Congressman Barney Frank.
Rep. Frank and Mayor Mitchell spoke to Elizabeth’s grassroots supporters about her commitment to fight for jobs in the City's traditional industries like fishing while helping create new jobs in the City's emerging industries like the offshore wind energy.
“With just five days left before the election, it’s more important than ever that our grassroots volunteers are reaching out to their neighbors to talk about what’s at stake in this election, and to get out the vote,” said Warren. “I’m committed to fighting for the people of New Bedford and working families throughout Massachusetts, to make sure everyone who works hard has a real shot at success.”
“Elizabeth will stand up for New Bedford’s working families. She'll be strong voice for our fishermen and she will also help us take advantage of the new opportunities for New Bedford in the offshore wind energy business. This election matters a lot for New Bedford's future. It is vitally important that we send a leader like Elizabeth to Washington.” said Mayor Mitchell. “Elizabeth will be an advocate for communities on the South Coast and across the Commonwealth. She will fight to ensure that we are making the investments that this region needs to grow and thrive.”
