BOSTON, MA -- Consumer Advocate Elizabeth Warren is telling the people of Massachusetts that nothing – and certainly no attack ad financed by Wall Street – will stop her from fighting for middle class families.
"I've spent years standing up to Wall Street and the big banks, exposing their tricks and traps, fighting to get a fair shake for people," Warren tells the people of Massachusetts in her video. "No attack ad --certainly not one from Karl Rove and Wall Street - will change that."
The video will be available on the Warren campaign’s Facebook page and on the campaign’s website. It comes after the latest attack ad from the Wall Street-financed Crossroads GPS, led by Karl Rove.
"We must be doing something right if Karl Rove is attacking us. And boy is he ever - with ridiculous attack ads financed by Wall Street," Warren says. "Let’s be clear, Karl Rove isn’t just attacking me. He and his buddies are attacking all of us in Massachusetts who want a level playing field for middle class families."
The attack ad has been called "full of absurd distortions," (Brian McGrory, The Boston Globe, 12/9/11); "one of the most disingenuous and inaccurate ads of the 2012 cycle," (Ari Berman, The Nation, 12/8/11); that "twists Elizabeth Warren’s role as a Congressionally-appointed watchdog," (ABC News 12/11)
Warren is asking her supporters to spread the truth about her record and the ads.
"We're building a strong grassroots organization to take them on. So I need your help. Reach out to your friends. Talk to them one-on-one. Make sure they know the truth. And ask them to go to ElizabethWarren.com to sign up," she says in the video.
